Ashley Severance is the Owner and Broker-in-Charge of Atlantic Properties of the Lowcountry, a boutique residential real estate firm founded in 2005 with a passion for Charleston’s homes. Originally from Florida and fluent in Spanish, Ashley is a proud graduate of Furman University, where she earned a double major in Business Administration and Spanish, while also playing Division I tennis.
Before launching her real estate career, Ashley spent nearly a decade at Eli Lilly and Company, where she consistently ranked among the top national sales and marketing professionals. She quickly rose through the ranks, becoming the youngest district sales manager in company history. While she thrived in a fast-paced corporate environment, Ashley ultimately felt called to something more personal and place-driven.
How It Started
Having lived in Madrid, Boston, and New York—and having spent meaningful time in Europe—Ashley developed a deep appreciation for timeless architecture and thoughtfully designed spaces. What began as a personal passion quickly became a professional calling. After moving to Charleston, she knew she wanted to help others find their perfect home and create a truly concierge-style experience for both buyers and sellers. Atlantic Properties of the Lowcountry was born from that vision. Today, Ashley is known for her discerning eye, tireless work ethic, and deep commitment to her clients.
Home & Family
Ashley and her husband, Matt, live on Daniel Island with their four children. Before settling there, they spent ten memorable years restoring and living in a historic 1870s home on Legare Street in Downtown Charleston—a project that deepened her love for Charleston’s character and charm. Outside of work, Ashley enjoys exercising, reading, entertaining, and making the most of life in the Lowcountry with family and friends.
Community Involvement
Ashley has long believed in giving back to the community she calls home. She’s served on the board of the Children’s Museum of the Lowcountry, the City of Charleston Recreation Commission, and on the Roper St. Francis Gala Committee for a decade. She has also contributed her time to the Historic Charleston Foundation and the Preservation Society’s annual Tour of Homes. A strong believer in the power of education and entrepreneurship, Ashley co-founded
LTP Scholars, an academic and athletic program for teens, and helped in the early development of
Sorelle, a celebrated gourmet restaurant in Downtown Charleston.
Favorite part about Charleston: "Everything. It is a sophisticated historic city on the water with good weather, excellent food, beaches, and beautiful lowcountry marsh scenes."
If you had to eat at the same restaurant every night, where would you eat and why: "Sorelle. My ties to helping the restaurant find a building and developing the space are special, but it's truly the incredible culinary offerings and staff that make it amazing."
Describe yourself in one sentence: "An on-the-go pleaser and outdoors lover, who craves daily exercise and has immense appreciation for beautiful homes and kind people."
